"Let It Go, And Let God"

Conference weekend was amazing. Can you say V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N? Crazy to think that a year ago I was in Salt Lake, set apart, anticipating going to the MTC. That feels like it was just yesterday. I know I probably always talk about how fast time is going, but it's so crazy.

There is a saying here in Jamaica that I absolutely love. It doesn't make much sense, grammatically, but it sounds nice, "Let go, and let God." So that is what I have been doing. I am letting go of self doubts, worries, and just letting God do His thing. I can't control people, everyone has agency, so I will at least control how I look at each situation. I can control my learning, my thoughts, my actions. I know as a missionary I am not supposed to be selfish, but each of us have a huge responsibility for our own eternal progression. Nobody will get us a free ticket into heaven. We determine our destiny, individually. I am just doing my best to be a mouthpiece for the Lord. I am not the teacher, the spirit is. I am not here to convince anyone, the spirit will do that. I am simply a vessel. If I am worthy and obedient, the spirit will manifest itself to our investigators.

This last week I had an amazing spiritual experience while teaching the restoration of the gospel to two young people. One is Shakarah, and the others name is Collito. They are both amazingly intelligent. I love them so much. Anyways, while we were teaching, they just understood everything. It all made sense to them. The highlight of the lesson was when we talked about modern day prophets, and the Book of Mormon. Shakarah was so excited that we have a prophet on the earth today. She wanted to know everything about him and the kind of things he teaches, we told her about conference. Collito was especially impressed by the Book of Mormon. When we had him read the introduction, he said with a smile on his face, "That makes so much sense. Of course God would do something like this. Of course he would have another testimony of Christ, so that on judgement day nobody can say that they didn't hear about him." When he said that, I started to cry. It was really embarrassing... I just was so happy that he understood. Nobody understands. Nobody actually cares, and finally someone comes along and it just makes so much sense to him. I really hope and pray that he reads and prays about this. It might make sense to him, but if he doesn't ask God if it's true, he will never know for himself.

After the lesson Shakarah and Collito (who both attend the anglican church), said to us, "You know, we go to our church and we don't really learn anything, but when you guys come we can't stop thinking about the lesson." Wow. That was awesome. We committed them to baptism. They said if God told them to do it they would. I know God will tell them to do that, if they are sincerely seeking truth.

There were many talks that touched my heart this conference. I especially loved Elder Eyrings talk this year. It made me really want to develop a legacy of hope and faith. I don't need to make a big mark on the world, I don't need money or fame, I just want people to remember me by my faithfulness and my diligence in following after my Savior.

I also loved Elder Hollands talk, and Elder Utchdorf, and Elder Steveson, ALL OF THEM. They were all so good. If you didn't watch them all, go back and watch them! It will fill you spiritually.

Here are some statements made that really stood out to me:
"In His plan there are no true endings, only everlasting beginnings."
"Wrong is never right."
"I would have never asked for this trial, but I would never ask for it to be taken away."
"You can become like God, if you follow Him." (Notice how conditional that statement is).
"Do you sense the urgency?"
"There may not be second chances to be kind."

I feel spiritually filled and happy. All is well.

Love always,
Sister Pitt

  1. Good morning, how are you?

My name is Emilio, I am a Spanish boy and I live in a town near to Madrid. I am a very interested person in knowing things so different as the culture, the way of life of the inhabitants of our planet, the fauna, the flora, and the landscapes of all the countries of the world etc. in summary, I am a person that enjoys traveling, learning and respecting people's diversity from all over the world.

I would love to travel and meet in person all the aspects above mentioned, but unfortunately as this is very expensive and my purchasing power is quite small, so I devised a way to travel with the imagination in every corner of our planet. A few years ago I started a collection of used stamps because trough them, you can see pictures about fauna, flora, monuments, landscapes etc. from all the countries. As every day is more and more difficult to get stamps, some years ago I started a new collection in order to get traditional letters addressed to me in which my goal was to get at least 1 letter from each country in the world. This modest goal is feasible to reach in the most part of countries, but unfortunately, it is impossible to achieve in other various territories for several reasons, either because they are very small countries with very few population, either because they are countries at war, either because they are countries with extreme poverty or because for whatever reason the postal system is not functioning properly.

For all this, I would ask you one small favor:
Would you be so kind as to send me a letter by traditional mail from Jamaica? I understand perfectly that you think that your blog is not the appropriate place to ask this, and even, is very probably that you ignore my letter, but I would call your attention to the difficulty involved in getting a letter from that country, and also I don’t know anyone neither where to write in Jamaica in order to increase my collection. a letter for me is like a little souvenir, like if I have had visited that territory with my imagination and at same time, the arrival of the letters from a country is a sign of peace and normality and an original way to promote a country in the world. My postal address is the following one:

    Emilio Fernandez Esteban
Avenida Juan de la Cierva, 44
    28902 Getafe (Madrid)
    Spain

If you wish, you can visit my blog www.cartasenmibuzon.blogspot.com where you can see the pictures of all the letters that I have received from whole World.

Finally, I would like to thank the attention given to this letter, and whether you can help me or not, I send my best wishes for peace, health and happiness for you, your family and all your dear beings.

    Yours Sincerely

    Emilio Fernandez
